オーストラリア・アデレードについて
I went to Gorge Wildlife Park to hold a koala with my classmate. It was one of the things I definitely wanted to do when I went to Australia. I could finally see it from a close distance. I could also see a cassowary. It is the third largest bird in the world but it is an endangered animal because of deforestation. I learned about endangered species in a class. I could learn about them not only in class but also in my daily life so it was a good chance to consider it.

There are many parks and beautiful beaches. One of my favorite places was Silver Sand Beach, where the sunset was breathtaking. I was also surprised to see koalas living in the parks, something I had never experienced in Japan. The climate in Adelaide is warm and dry, making it not so uncomfortable, but the city faces water shortages. Because of this, people in Adelaide were very conscious about saving water. To prevent heatstroke, there were many water dispensers, and people often wore hats or caps. I found these measures very impressive.

オーストラリア社会との出会い
Tourists from many countries visit Japan, and I thought it was a multicultural country, but when I came to Australia, I saw many people from countries other than Australia, both in and around the city. My host family was also not Australian, but Vietnamese. I felt that Australia was an even more multicultural country than Japan.

I experienced a lot during this training, but there is one thing in particular that stands out in my mind. It is going to church. I’m not a Chiristian, so this was my first time going to a church. We worshipped there. We all sang songs together, and it was more joyful than I’d expected. After the service, everyone had lunch together and the ladies danced and had a lot of fun.

自由時間の過ごし方について
One of the most unforgettable experiences was competing at Glenelg Beach. A beach volleyball coach in Japan introduced me to a beach volleyball player in Adelaide. I contacted him, and he kindly took me to practice with the club team. During practice, I had to understand what we were working on and communicate with my teammates as partners. There were players not only from Australia but also from Italy, Vietnam, and other countries. The club team has players from many different countries, and that made me feel how multicultural Australia is. Everyone was very kind and skilled. After practice, we all went out for tacos together.

I was invited to my host mother's friend's birthday party. Many of her friends came to the party, and all of them enjoyed eating and chatting. At first, I was very nervous because I had very few opportunities to attend such big parties in Japan. However, that changed when someone started playing music on a speaker and everyone started dancing. I didn't know how to dance, but I tried to join in and enjoy myself actively. Then, one of my host mother's friends taught me some simple dance steps. As a result, I enjoyed the party and became friends with them. Through that experience, I found that I had a good sense of rhythm and also learned that it is useful for communicating in English.
